WHO are these bridezillas? An editorial rant.

Please be warned…there is about to be an editorial rant:

I am drawn to the Bridezilla show this year, much like a train wreck, it’s hard to turn my head away. And I am ashamed of myself.

Who are these women? What are you doing? A bride screaming at her father and pushing cake in his face at rehearsal, tearing up her wedding veil because it wasn’t the right shade and yelling at everyone that moves, especially her future husband. Another bride that treats her fiance like a small wounded dog taking every opportunity to tell him that he is a fat slob, a distaster and tells him to shutup, shutup, shutup, freaking SHUTUP. This is the man she is suppose to cherish, respect and love. I’m thinking, no.

Ladies (and I use that term as loosely as possible), why would you show the world how you treat your future spouse and other loved ones in this horrible demeaning manner? Is it really worth the vacation you get?

The Bridezilla series must be pulling in potential guests that didn’t quite make the infamous Jerry Springer Show. It makes good “reality TV”. That is the part that I find truly scary. This actually may be real.

This year the WEtv series is touting that the family fights back against their Bridezillas. I’m hoping for tear gas. So far I haven’t seen it.

Just know, that when my friends, family or acquaintances ask me, “Do you have any Bridezillas as clients”? I can sing from the roof tops of Evansville, “No way. All of my clients are too classy to be called a Bridezilla. Even on their most stressed days”.

I think I’ll do something more productive like watch ice melt, wait the extra hour and watch Platinum Weddings instead. For the first time in my life, I may just have to admit that in Reality TV Show World; cash may just equal class.

  1. I can’t watch it. I tried a few times because my friend were all into it, but it was just too much. I wondered too, who are these women? I also wanted to know is this real or partially scripted? Either way it’s embarrassing and I’ve chosen to not watch it. Great post!

  2. I purchased a few episodes on iTunes and just sat with my mouth open. My most recent bride came up to me after wedding rehearsal with a worried look on her face. She asked me if her wedding party treated me okay. She said that Bridezillas had scared her silly about a mucked up wedding rehearsal taking place. Not on my watch, honey!

Only ONCE have I encountered one of these lovely young ladies…. after screaming at me over a $15 centerpiece because she swore I switched the roses over night from the ones she had previewed… I politely (LOL) gave her the choice of keeping your flowers or taking them all home and bringing her back a refund…. guess who backed down??? They are out there HOWEVER I have learned the weeding technique. 😎

  4. I agree with you. I couldn’t stop thinking about the Bridezilla that smushed the cake in her father’s face. Never, never, never would I treat my dad with so little respect. I truly felt sorry for her daughter because she was forced to live with that anger and instability. You hit the nail right on the head Saundra. Love & Soul Always, Kay

  5. Thank you all for your comments, I figured I would get a lot of nodding in agreement.

Let’s be clear, my disappointment is more with the overall lack of humanity, rather than a stressed out bride. There has to be some underlying baseline that you don’t cross. Even when you are stressed.

  6. I too was floored at that bride’s behavior (particularly when she ripped into her family, and how just absolutely crazy she was- and the groom for marrying her a second time), and actually watched the same episode a second time still in disbelief. That show is scary, and you have to wonder if some of them are either overacting for the camera, or if there’s a good amount of mental instability going on there.
