Read More »why the royal wedding 2011 is a big deal…
For all the people that are rolling their eyes and exhaling loudly about the Royal Wedding nausea of news … let me see if I can break this down for you.
It’s more than just a “wedding”. Yes, as wedding vendors we love to chat up the dress, flowers, etc. It’s what we do.
This wedding is huge for England and the world. Women, (Queens, Princesses, First Lady) often become “the face” of a country. We are comforting, beautiful and compassionate. The soon to be Princess Kate will do that for her country.
Princess Diana was the first to change how the Monarchy was perceived. She made it the Modern Monarchy, more approachable and definitely real. Remember she would take William and Harry to McDonalds to help them have as normal of a childhood as possible. Honestly, I think Diana was an “American” deep in her soul.
Prince William and Princess Kate will take this Modern Monarchy to even the next level. I expect to see them acting very differently with how they live and interact with the country. Which is a great thing. Everything moves forward … and I can’t wait to watch.

The next largest bridal show in the area is coming up THIS Sunday, February 6th at The Centre in Evansville, Indiana.
Bridal shows are a wonderful way to get excited about your wedding with your mom and bridesmaids. But they can also be a little overwhelming.
Here’s a secret: It’s exhausting for us vendors as well. We talk to so many people that literally, by the end of the day we have no voice left.
Still, your excitement is contagious.
So here are a few tips on the best way to approach a wedding vendor at a bridal show:
Be Prepared: Know that you are going to be asked by every single vendor that you talk to when you are getting married and all the deets that go along. Perhaps you can bring along pre-addressed labels for giveaways so you don’t have to write your name, phone number, email every time.
Get to the Point: Let the vendor know what you are looking for or might be interested. Vendors spend MONEY to be in a show and need to speak to as many potential brides as possible. Save your time and theirs.
Let the Vendor Take the Lead: If you have a good feeling and a good conversation, let the vendor have your information to contact YOU! This puts the responsibility in their hands.
No Pressure: Some vendors offer specials at bridal shows, that is a great way to save a few bucks! But don’t feel pressured. A really good offer will allow a bride to have at least a few days or even weeks to make up their mind.

Carnations have gotten a bad reputation over the years. These hardy little flowers can come in all sizes and colors. They are simple, but can be used very creatively. The trick is not mixing a sprig of baby’s breath and a fern stem (circa 1980).
Take a look at this lovely bouquet we created for last year’s Super Bride Sunday show ….

SO many brides picked this bouquet up not even realizing that it was mostly comprised of carnations. Mixing tulips around at the edge gave it a really interesting touch.

Need to fill up some serious space? How about using carnations for your wedding cake, like seen above? Those are A LOT of flowers and traditionally carnations can be budget friendly.
I adore the bouquet on the right. GREAT use of variations of colors to create a soft bouquet that can give almost a “peonies” look.

Tis the season to get engaged….
Tra-la-la-la-laaaa-la-la-la-la !
We believe your best plan of action is to sit down with all your familia to determine your budget (who’s going to contribute), potential number of guests and a time of year you want to say the two biggest words ever in your whole life, “I Do”.
The first vendor you should contact, is a wedding planner. Come ‘on, what did you expect from this blog?
And if you are super excited and would love to talk to a lot of wedding vendors with a few dozen of your friends tagging along, then mark your calendars for one of the largest’s bridal shows in the area:
