so, what’s with the blog?

This afternoon I had the pleasure of having lunch with Amanda Monarch Woods (previous bride), her fabulous mother, Rachel Monarch and the soon-to-be-wed sister, Amy Monarch.

I have to tell you, I triple heart the Monarch family. What is not to love? They are Type A personalities (check), lots of fun (check), very direct and blunt (check) and always want to throw a great party (check!).

Amanda politely asked me, “What’s up with the blog?” Seriously, thank you for the gentle reminder, as I have been quite delinquent. As our team has grown this year, I’m hoping to have more blog posts done by not just “my voice”.

Now Amanda and Brian are no strangers to our blog, you see when you have a super cool personality, you get talked about. Like when they decided to meet before the wedding, we used their pretty faces, or when we talked about being a “wedding risk taker“,  and finally, my personal fave….. how to make a grand entrance into your wedding reception, OH YES!

Today, though, also just happens to be Amanda and Brian’s 2nd wedding anniversary. And for that reason, I’d like to play a little homage to their wedding and see if we can get Amanda to cook more than just spaghetti for her anniversary dinner…

Enjoy….

featured on the stylish planner

the stylish planner logo saundra hadley feature

The Stylish Planner is the brain child of Jeannine Kennedy whom I met at a conference (Eventology 09) in April of this year. I didn’t get to speak with her a lot but I remember sitting behind her during one of the sessions.

I did the total “girl thing” and looked at her up and down. I remember thinking, “She is so stylish and cute…a little southern lady”.

So when Jeannine decided to start a website that was geared for professional event planners about their personal style, fashion and beauty … I wasn’t surprised at all. I was however SHOCKED when she called me and asked if I would like to be a featured planner.

Me? For real? Surprisingly, she was not kidding. For pete’s sake, I had to follow Kelly McWilliams the cutest little planner on earth.

So here’s my feature if you would like to get to know a little more about me. And thanks Jeannine for the honor!

modern bride closing elegant bride

This was just announced this morning that the publishers Condé Nast will be closing several magazines that include, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride, among others. We’ve enjoyed those magazines for years, as I’m sure many of you have as well.

Our hearts go out to the employees that will be directly affected by this reduction.

semi-finalist for aha moment tour

Remember this this blog post talking about the super-cool aha moment tour that went around the country to different cities? Even though I received an email invite, I went on a whim and simply spoke from the heart.

On Monday this week, I received this email from the tour’s PR people:

Saundra,

On behalf of Mutual of Omaha, thank you for participating in the 2009 aha moment tour. You were part of more than 1,000 people who shared their inspiring stories with us. Because of the overwhelming response to the aha moment tour, we have decided to ask the general public to pick their favorite moments – the final 10 of which will become Mutual of Omaha’s 2010 national TV commercial campaign.

Congratulations! Your story has been selected as one of the semi-finalists. Your aha moment will appear alongside 74 others on http://www.ahamoment.com/vote , where visitors to the site will have the chance to vote for their favorites.

The first round of voting will begin on October 1st and continue through October 15th. After the first round, the top-25 vote getters will win a Flip video camera and move on to the final round of voting, which will end on October 31st. The top 10 favorite aha moments will be featured in Mutual of Omaha’s 2010 nationwide TV ads, which will begin airing early next year.

If you don’t wish to participate or be considered in the online voting please respond to this email and let us know. If you are interested in participating in the survey, however, we encourage you to tell your family and friends to go to http://www.ahamoment.com/vote starting October 1st and vote for your aha moment!

Good luck! Regardless of the outcome, we hope that the campaign, using real stories from real people just like you, will inspire others to realize and act upon their own aha moments.

I’M A SEMI FINALIST!!! I’m so excited and think this is such a great honor to represent my city and my profession.

So…..on OCTOBER 1ST (next Wednesday) I will be asking for YOUR vote. And if I make the cut down to the top 25, I will shamelessly irritate you some more and ask you for your vote again on OCTOBER 15th.

They won’t have the all the semi-finalists up until Wednesday, but if you wish to see my segment, check it out.

aha moments

Recently I received a very nice email inviting me to videotape my “aha moment”! Mutual of Omaha is the official sponsor of the aha moment tour. They are going from city to city in a huge nerd, silver trailer and allowing anyone to come and videotape their “moment”. It could be anything!!!

A few will be chosen to be featured in a national campaign later this year. Super cool. So I went…
