your courtship memoirs

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

This little snippet came to me via email….and I think it is pretty darn cool. Ellen at Courtship Stories sent me a blurb about her little company.

Imagine having your courtship documented by a professional writer, add your own unique pictures and bind all those precious memories into one cute little square book….that is a recipe for a good keepsake!

Ellen will interview both of you and translate that into a beautifully written storybook fairytale. Or I suppose something funny and quirky….reflective of your personality. This can be a thoughtful gift for a couple who has everything!!!!

Prices are custom, so visit her blog to find out more information!

map it out

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

We love making maps here at planning..forever events studio. <rolling eyes> Not really, but we do try to help out our clients. So we tests an online DIY map…

Check out,  Wedding Mapper….a cute little online mapping system that you can DIY! We used their help and tweaked it ourselves to make this map…

The only thing I would make sure when using any secondary mapping system; is to double check that it is correct. We found Wedding Mapper to be totally easy to use, once you go the hang of it. Just always, always, double check accuracy. As with anything printed!

For something more custom and interesting, take a look at this map from Lucky Orchid Wedding.
It’s simply precious:

I couldn’t draw my way out of paper bag much less create something that lovely! Great job Laura! Check out her site for more inspirations.

earth friendly weddings

Jennifer at Earth Friendly Weddings blogged about our tree at Super Bride…she is such a sweetie! Thank you so much!

Which brings me to talk about her latest endeavor… earthlyaffair.com :: earth friendly invitations.  Original and unique (of course on recycled paper) it proves that making a green friendly decision does not mean you give up looking good. Take a look at one of her creations, Pinwheel (which comes in a variety of colors, as all her invitations).

So cute!!! Make sure you take a moment to look at the rest of her creative line!

handcrafted, but not for the common

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I love it when good things find me.

That is why I was so happy to open my email!!!

Lynn, from Handrafted: The Cure For the Common Wedding (a blog that highlights unusual designers and inventors of the uncommon designs) sent me a pleasant announcement.

[drum roll please]

Thw7

The Grand Opening of their sister site: The Handcrafted Wedding. [quote plucked from their site:]

The Handcrafted Wedding was created to showcase an exclusive
group of independent designers and specialty artisans who have one goal
in mind… to create your wedding vision with unique, customizable
wedding accessories, that are crafted with uncommon quality.

I have 3 weddings in two weeks, so I haven’t had the time to dive in, but I’m definitely going to schedule some downtime to review. From what I’ve seen so far, makes me want to design something to submit to her!

artwork instead of host cards

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I tell my clients all the time, it is physically painful to do assigned seating for your guests. But it is a MUST at a wedding with a served/plated meal.

Remember high school? And all the cool kids sat together? That is what it is like for guests to come into a huge room and try to find seating. Imagine if there are three of you in your party? You have to go from table to table…trying to find if there are three open chairs. And remember - typically you will want your guests to be able to find their seats quickly once you arrive so dinner can get started. That is difficult to do if you haven’t done your homework.

There are lots of great ideas out there for host cards (the cards that say the name of the guest and which table they are assigned to). I have a different solution for you if you have a LARGE wedding. A poster sized seating chart that not only has the layout in full color but also everyone’s names?

Think about it. If you have 350 guests, then you will on average have 175 host cards (if done on the traditional folded tent table cards). That is a lot of cards to setup. You’ll probably need two banquet tables!!!

Check this out:

This is a easy to read, simple laminated and classy poster-sized host picture. We created this and we are offering this service to couples starting at $250. That’s only $.70 a couple for a large 350 wedding. We can also insert this into a beautiful frame if you wish.

All you have to do is submit your RSVP list to us in excel format and the layout of your room. We will take it from there. Our clients get a discount for this service.
