We’ve been busy little bees here at the planning…forever events studio. While others are getting ready for Christmas, wrapping gifts, baking cookies and looking forward to upcoming vacations…..we are working our little fingers to the bone.

We are closed today and tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I’m having Turkey Day at my house and since most of my family live out of town or the country…we are having good friends over with their four daughters! I love a house full!
I have a gazillion pies to make … so everyone, please have a great holiday and remember to be thankful!

planning…forever events is now a proud member of the The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana.
We have enjoyed working with the Chamber this past year on events such as the Energy Summit and look forward to networking with other Chamber member businesses in the future!

Have you heard the story about the ticked off Manhattan bride? I’ll break it down for you:
1. Bride wanted rusty color hydrangeas for her 22 centerpieces.
2. Florist charged her $27,435.14 for the floral decor (duh! It’s Manhattan)
3. Flowers arrived; wilted, and cheaper green/pink hydrangeas in dusty vases without enough water.
4. Bride gets really pissed off…probably stewed about this for hours…
5. Bride sues florist for $400,000
Here are my thoughts:
First you need to get past the fact she spent $27k on flowers. It’s all relative. To you and me, that’s a lot of moola. But to her it may be just a small investment. To make things easier let’s just pretend the floral bill was $5k.
Next thing is why the 1,500% markup for restitution and damages? Well if you know anything about suing then you know you always aim real high. Attorneys are always helpful with that thought process. Oh wait, did I mention? The bride IS an attorney. She filed on her own behalf.
Who knows what the flowers looked like, so I won’t take sides. I’m guessing there was a lot more to the story for this bride to be as upset as she is. And the vendor is no slouch; apparently this florist has been in business for years and has been in featured in prominent magazines including Vogue.
Finally, let’s learn from this unfortunate situation. How could the florist have covered himself? Have the bride come in on Friday afternoon and view her floral arrangements and personal flowers. You still have some time to make changes if it isn’t the color to her liking.
Or invest in some spray paint.

Some of you might not know this, BUT planning…forever |weddings & events actually does corporate event planning. We are especially excited the opportunity as the contracted event planners for the Energy Summit for Southwest Indiana.
This will be a very exciting and informative meeting and we are proud to be a part of it. The Energy Summit is put on by Vectern Corporation and hosted with the The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana. The idea was spearheaded by President Cheryl Musgrave of the Vanderburgh County Commissioners Office and assisted by Jim McKinney at Regency Properties and Todd Tucker with Tucker Publishing. We have been working long hours to plan a stellar event!
We are expecting the Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, to attend as well as other elected officials. There will be speakers from different Energy related businesses to give different viewpoints of this very timely topic. There has even been some articles written, Evansville Courier & Press recently published this article.
The event will be on August 30, 2007 located at The Centre in Evansville. Registration starts at 7:30am and it will end at 3pm. The cost is $50 and will include a continental breakfast and lunch from our Keynote Speaker.
