about
hi. it’s me saundra, event engineer
Let me start by telling you that I’m not your typical event planner. I’ve been known to wear my cute Converse Chucks with dress slacks. I’m prone to outbursts of laughter. I’m direct. So don’t ask me my opinion if you don’t want to hear it. I admit when I’m wrong and secretly love it when I’m right (but won’t tell you I told you so).
Color makes me happy. I don’t believe in perfection, so there is no such thing as a perfect event and anyone who tells you that there is such a thing, is blowing smoke up your, er, skirt. I’m highly organized. Almost to a fault. It’s an illness really. And I have an uncanny knack of seeing ahead five steps ahead of the average person. This skill comes in handy at events.
My family and friends are of most importance to me. I have a wonderful husband of 14 years and an twelve year son who has the quick wit of an adult. My secret vices are: Friends reruns and good wine.
Instead of over abundance, I am more pragmatic when it comes to planning and definitely believe in an all-about-you approach towards your event. Our studio takes special care to consider the grooms in planning a wedding; it’s their special day too!
I love what I do and don’t mind telling you I’m really good at it. It’s not the actual planning or work; it’s helping people that drives me everyday. Actually that is what my name means: “helper to mankind”. Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up.
Our planning studio has evolved over the years. We prefer not to be a big firm because we believe in giving our clients undivided attention. We specialize in planning weddings, corporate and social events. Each area of expertise uses the same skill sets and yet different skill sets. Bottom line, when you hire us, you will have your thumbprint on your event. It’s all about you, and that’s the way we like to keep it.
The blog began in early 2006 and was first used to talk primarily about wedding information. Unlike other wedding blogs, we try to highlight ideas, traditions, and trends that can be easily implemented by the typical person (sometimes stretching it a bit). With so much wedding information on the web, usually coming from the coasts, I find that the some ideas don’t mesh well with the average Midwest event.
You may see some personal stuff on the blog as well, because life is too short to be all about business. No pretenses here. We keep it real. Thanks for stopping by….
