3 Top Mistakes a Groom can Make ….
We touched on today THREE things that a groom can do to sabatoge his own wedding:
1. Pretend to not be in interested in the wedding (planning). All guys have thought about their wedding at some point or another. Do yourself a favor and be vocal about ideas you want to implement. I know tradition dictates that it is the bride’s day, but this is 2007….it’s more 60/40. *smile*
2. Not understanding what weddings cost. The number one reason couples fight is over money. So if you have not been part of the vendor interviewing process and at least attended some of the meetings, you may get sticker shock when you look at a final bill. It’s your own fault.
3. You don’t help the bride out. There are two occasions in your life as a man that you have the opportunity to step up and be EXTRA chivalrous. One: when you are about to get married and Two: when your wife is carrying your child. Brides can get overwhelmed and if you offer to help to run some errands or call back a vendor…they may appreciate it tremendously. Especially during the last couple of weeks, which is when the wedding planning really hits the fan. Offer to help her out. If she says no, then you are off the hook. (I hope).
Just being present is often calming for the bride. I’ve see it time and time again, the bride is anxious and the groom walks in and says something funny and suddenly the entire atmosphere is difused and more productive!
