what's up, chuck?

I have a passion for shoes, comfort and uniqueness. Those three things are hard to combine into one product…but somehow I’ve found a way. As an event engineer (planner) I am on my feet, a lot. So I have decided this year I am going to be comfortable, but still realize that I need to be stylish, hip, fun, chic….darn it…..different!

Lucky for me, I am able to pair my love of “old school” style with comfort and uniqueness. Thank goodness for Chuck Taylor Converse tennis shoes! Check these out these babies for a little inspiration!

I wear these on a daily basis; with dress slacks or jeans. They have so many new styles, colors and unique patterns! I love ‘em…..comfortable and cool! The only time I won’t wear them is at your wedding.

As of today I own: brown, black, brown/with pink dotted hearts, plaid, olive green, tan (actually made from hemp), turquoise pattern, orange/red, and gray (that have a little black sheep in the tongue!). The trick is to keep the chucks that you need to wear with dress slacks really clean. I have a few that are dirty and worn in….I wear those out in only casual situations.

Believe it or not; they are great ice breakers! If you have time you should check out their website….so many cute ideas and designs!

Let’s chat: What do you wear that is different? What’s your signature style?

For weddings and any related events, I wear a hemp/cotton top in whatever color and black hemp/cotton skirt from Texture Clothing. The skirt is flexible and has a sweet little hidden pocket that I keep my driver’s license, card and some cash in when I’m on a job. It’s a simple outfit, but it’s slowly becoming my signature look. I was originally inspired by Edith Head who wore her signature look from the 30′s until her death in the 1981.

I love bracelets!! I have a million of them! I don’t wear a ton of them all at once but I try to make sure I keep them interesting. Like your chucks, my bracelets are GREAT ice breakers!

I LOVE this about you Saundra. You rock! I’m kinda glued to my Rainbow flip flops. They’re so comfy. I always keep them with me so I can kick off the heels asap.

I have actually worn Chucks to 2 of my Proms and plan on wearing some knee high white zip up Chucks in my wedding! I also am an avid collector and have 13 pair, all high tops! I absolutely love these shoes! I’m glad I’m not alone!

YEAH Laura!!! The other day at my corporate meeting (all suits) someone asked me how many I own. I’m up to 9 pairs. Found a darling black/gray pair the other day at a discount store ($19.99- SCORE)!

Love the white chucks with the dress. See if your fiance will wear black ones with his suit.

I wear flip flops ALL the time, even in the snow! I am barefoot when I don’t have to be outside. For our ceremony I am going barefoot, and then am putting on flats of some kind, not sure if I will do Urban Outfitters Jellies or flip flops. I love that other people have their comfort shoe and never stray! And thanks for this wonderful blog, Saundra! I love reading all your amazing expertise!
